Butch builds the burger out of blocks, so the box is built the same way. Every component is already made, cut and portioned. Nothing on this list becomes your errand.

How it started
Friends were coming over, and instead of the usual braai, Butch made burgers. The response was better than he expected — so he kept going.
Round after round of hosting, he built his own patty, his own sauce and his own chip seasoning. Every version was tested on whoever sat at the table, and every version got closer.
Eventually the compliments turned into instructions: open a restaurant. So Butch bought a trailer — and built the box.

The trailer is where the Butch Burger gets cooked for strangers. We pull into food markets on weekends, fire up the plate and hand burgers and seasoned chips out of the hatch.
That is the point of a food market: you taste something new. Taste this one, and then we tell you how to put the same burger on your own table.

Putting together a Butch Burger
The same guide goes in every box. Follow it in order and the burger comes out the way it comes out of the trailer.
Step 1 of 7
Butter the cut sides and toast face-down in a dry pan until golden. A toasted bun is what stops a burger going soggy under the sauce.
Step 2 of 7
Medium heat, no oil, until the fat renders and the edges crisp. Keep the pan and the bacon fat for the patties.
Step 3 of 7
Warm the Butch sauce gently in a small pot. Warm sauce melts into the cheese instead of cooling the patty down.
Step 4 of 7
High heat, cook one test patty first to read your pan. Two to three minutes a side, cheddar on top for the last minute, lid on to melt.
Step 5 of 7
Bottom half: cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion. Top half: sauce, patty with cheddar, bacon, Peppadew, gherkin. Built this way the burger holds together in the hand.

Cook the chips hot and dry, then hit them with the chip seasoning while they are still steaming so it sticks.

Plate it, carry it out, take the credit. That part is yours.
